It’s needless to say that that marketing moved to digital. There is a lot of great tools pop-upping every day which aim to ease the marketing processes and to achieve great results.
The next big thing in digital marketing isn’t just one, singular trend. It’s a collection of technologically-driven changes that are chasing the road to the future. We’ve seen how chatbots impacted 24/7 sale for example. But it’s not the only thing that we should concentrate on. So, what is the next big thing in marketing? Let’s explore some possible theories that will continue to change the course of marketing’s future.
Alexa, Google Voice, Siri – voice search is becoming widely adopted. It is the most quickly adopted thing in marketing. 40% of US adults are using voice search at least once per day, and 60% of those have only started using the technology within the past year. This means that a lot of searches will become screenless.

Further, half of all web searches will be voice searches by 2020. The demographics are very interesting as well. It’s not only driven by younger millennials but rather older generations (40+ years old). The reason for this is the ease of use – they avoid small screens and tiny keypads.
Definitely–mobile and desktop search won’t disappear any time soon. However, you have to ensure that your company and/or products can be found with voice search. The number of individuals using voice search continues to grow. So what should you do? Ensure your content is excellent, conversational, and well-written. Both short-form and long-form are important.
Using the power of influencer marketing is also the next big thing in digital marketing. Surely, you’ve encountered influencer marketing in your daily life and all of us encountered it. Have you seen professional athletes endorsing a certain company’s goods on Instagram posts? Maybe you watched stories with Kylie Jenner promoting some kind of cosmetics?
That’s influencer marketing and it is powerful. By utilizing your network or connections with people who have a big base of followers on social media, you can find a lot of leads. Find a celebrity or well-known individual who is in the same stream with your brand and have them passively or actively market your product.
User-Generated Content (UGC)
The next phenomenon worth mentioning is user-generated content which can be contagious. This is the best free tool to gain brand awareness and spread your product info all over the web. The aim is the following – you are using your current (satisfied) customers to provide reviews or insights into your product. Before make them speak about your product, make sure that they are happy with it.
Every single post, taken photo or story about your product can greatly work on generating your brand awareness.
Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality
Both augmented and virtual reality have made massive impacts for various marketers. It is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR/AR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds and it’s a really useful tool. For example, Ikea has already implemented this technology into his business. In 2018 by launching their augmented reality app, they let users test whether or not furniture would be a good fit in their living space.
We can certainly say that high technologies are coming to change the marketing field and they are going to be more and more involved in its processes. We can highlight Voice Search and implementation of VR/AR as the game-changers in marketing. As technology allows newer and more exciting opportunities to come to the tactics, we don’t stop there.
